Brownies are named after the mythical beings that helped others by secretly doing good turns, but being a Brownie is much more than this.
Everything a Brownie does is an adventure and meetings are action-packed with activities that the girls themselves often suggest.
Being a Brownie is a world of excitement, new interests and friends. As a Brownie, your daughter is encouraged to have responsibility for herself and others by being grouped into sixes and older Brownies are assigned as a "Buddy" to new Brownies. Each girl can suggest activites for the pack so, where possible, interests can be shared with her peers. Meetings are usually once a week and generally last for an hour and a quarter. Start times vary from unit to unit, but 6pm is most common.
More information on the Brownie Program for Brownies, Parents and Guiders can be found on the Girlguiding UK website. There are currently 22 Brownie units across the Bath Division with some units having a waiting list.
