Badges Galore!:
34th Bath Brownies
Well done to all the girls at the 34th Bath Brownie group who have earned interest badges over the past term. Here are a few reports from the girls:
Brownies is all about having fun and learning about different skills. One evening we did first aid. It was such fun as we got to bandage each other up and learn the recovery position. Another great Brownie evening!

[For the Cook's badge] we made biscuits and ate them. Amy said "Yum, I like the biscuits". Emily said "It was fun". Maisy said "It was fun but I didn't like the biscuits". We played "shopping basket" which I liked and we also played a game with the colours of chopping boards. I liked the biscuits. Nia said "It was fun and exciting". Megan said "It was cool" and Sophie said "It was fun getting messy".

When a Brownie becomes a Brownie, they have a Brownie Buddy who looks after them at the ceremony. The Brownie buddy serves drinks and acts as a hostess. A hostess is a Brownie who looks out for the mums and dads. Izzy liked giving out the tea.

I have interviewed Holly and she said the thing she liked best about Brownies was the crafts. Isobel said "I like seeing my friends". Inès said she also liked the crafts and being with her friends. Ellie said "I love getting badges" and Imogen said she liked the activities. I just love Brownies.

I have interviewed Inès. She said it is fun and she liked seeing her friends. Then I interviewed Nancy and she said she liked the crafts and Holly said knitting. Isobel said it was fun and Ellie said she liked getting badges.

Golden Jubilee:
34th Bath Brownies
2006 is a very special year for 34th Bath Brownies; we celebrate our Golden Jubilee in October. This means it is 50 years since the pack was registered in Guide HQ in London. As part of the celebrations we thought it would be appropriate to look at the Brownie Traditions badge. Are there any Mums, Aunties, Grandmas who have their old Brownie uniforms, badges, books or memories they would like to share with us? perhaps we could put together a temporary display for our new Bath HQ. (please use the contact form to send a message to the unit)
Other activities the unit has been up to:
Blood, guts and snot! No, not just another normal Brownie meeting but Brownie Science Night at the Science museum in London, with the theme "Bodily Functions". Nine excited Brownies, Robin and Snowy all had a great weekend exploring the body and sleeping amongst the exhibits. We travelled by coach and tube on the Saturday and, leaving the rain outside, we stepped into a world of science and the workings of the body. The girls filled bags with "snot", created bruises and lesions on themselves and learnt how our digestive systems work. Spending the night with 380 brownies and bedding down on a hard floor did not aid sleep, but we were soon sitting in the Imax theatre watching men walking onthe moon before coming back home in time for lunch on the Sunday. It was a truly unforgettable 24 hours.
