A year in the life of a Brownie Pack:
11th Bath Brownies
St Stephen's Brownie Pack started the year doing Craft, Artist and World Guiding badges in three small groups. Younger girls did World Guiding with Jo and did some great work. Gina took a group for the craft badge and they made Piñatas out of papier mache. Early in March we joined with the Acension Brownies for a 'Red Nose' fun evening and all wore red and big hair as instructed - a great evening was had by all! Over Easter, we did crafts making, amongst other things, chicks. Then in May we went on Pack Holiday to Freshford so that Annie, one of the leaders, could get her Indoor Holiday qualification. The theme was 'Alice in Wonderland' complete with Mad Hatter, Dormouse, White Rabbit and, of course, Alice. In June we participated in the national Giant Sleepover event. before bedtime we had a quiz around Weston village, organised by Weston Guides, followed by a barbeque. We played parachute games to try to tire everyone out before settling down for the night. However, it was the hottest night of the year and this contributed to a very restless night, with little sleep had by all! Due to the generosity of parents and families we raised a healthy £216.65, of which half went to CLIC and the rest was kept by the units involved. During June and July one of out leaders was away recoving from an operation but help was at hand in the form of two very helpful Duke of Edinburgh's award participants from the Royal High School. At the start of the Autumn term, we were joined by some new girls. In September and October we worked towards the speaker badge and the new ones learnt about brownies and made their Promise. November we took part in the Brownie Fun Day alongside all of the other Brownies in Bath. We had a fund raising evening to raise money for treats on our Pack Holiday next year and we were joined for the fun by parents and and St Saviours Brownies. We also made Christmas cards and present labels during this month. In December, the Pack was 50 YEARS OLD! We had a grand party to celebrate and to end the term. We had a cake with a photograph of the Pack on and everybody ate themselves! To celebrate even further, during 2006 we plan to go to Southampton for a special Pack Holiday. Annie Moxam
